Sturgeon

Fredericton
Saint John
Hampton

Spring season: Mid march (ice permitting) - April 15th
Fall season: September 1st - early December

  • Because sturgeon gather and overwinter in specific areas, the most productive times to target them are during ice-out in early spring and again in late fall. During these peak periods, guests can typically expect to catch two times—or more—the number of fish they might see during the summer months.

  • Due to ice conditions, March and April sturgeon trips are offered exclusively in the Saint John, NB area.

  • Ice usually begins to clear by mid-March, and we start scheduling sturgeon trips around March 20th. In the fall and early winter, ice generally begins forming again by mid to late December.

  • For early spring outings, guests should be prepared for temperatures hovering around the freezing mark and dress in winter layers. That said, we often enjoy favorable conditions—sometimes fishing comfortably in hoodies while soaking up the first warm, sunny days of an Atlantic Canadian spring.
